Group Therapy
Group therapy is a group of people all gathered to open up and support each other with the guidance of a trained clinician. Group therapy experiences teach us about ourselves as individuals and as members of the other meaningful groups in our lives.
Groups are usually between 6 and 10 people and can be scheduled to last between 60 and 90 minutes, depending on the group. Our therapists each bring their own personal prowess to their groups, but true group work is done when members step into sharing their ideas, fears, and hopeful suggestions with their peers in group. Clinicians are present to begin the process, and help set up guardrails to ensure every member is treated with respect.
Members are encouraged to use mindfulness and be patiently curious about other members as well as their own internal reactions to events in the group. Possible benefits of genuine group therapy experiences are better knowledge of self, more conscious and effective communication strategies, and a deeper connection to others.
